All the substances discussed here
could be termed 'psycho-active' substances as they all
affect the way the body's Central Nervous System (CNS)
operates.
They have been divided into different categories
according to the effect they have on the Central Nervous
System, for example CNS stimulants and depressants.
Some of the drugs have also been categorised by the
circumstances in which they are commonly used, such as
'Club Drugs' commonly used in nightclubs and the
Electronic Dance Music scene.
Other substances have been categorised as 'Entheogens'.
These are primarily substances that are culturally used
as adjuncts in spiritual practices.
