Effects of Ecstasy
Ecstasy pills usually start to take effect after about 30 to 60 minutes, depending a little on how recently you ate. Powdered MDMA usually starts to take effect a little sooner if taken orally and a lot quicker if snorted. The 'come up' usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes and often starts with a tingling sensation a little rushes of exhilaration.
starting with little rushes of exhilaration. These are sometimes accompanied by mild feelings of nausea and disorientation, though these don't usually last long. The peak effects of MDMA are felt 60 to 90 minutes after ingestion and last for two to four hours, followed by a gradual comedown.

Ecstasy is sometimes referred to as a hallucinogenic amphetamine or psycho stimulant (for a pictorial representation have a look here at the psychedelic rainbow). This means that it both enhances physical sensations such as touch, taste and particularly sound, whilst giving the user the feeling of having boundless energy.

People on E tend to feel 'connected' and 'on the same level' as those around them, especially if those others are on E too. This is why Ecstasy or MDMA is also sometimes referred to as an 'entactogen' and was used in relationship counselling in the 1960's. In places like raves or clubs where Ecstasy use may be more widespread, social norms may be altered and talking to strangers is quite acceptable.
